The 2018 Camry is available in five distinct trim levels: LLESEXSE and XLE. The differences among them chiefly boil down to features, with the exception of the SE and the XSE that also include a sportier suspension calibration. All trims are available with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 203 hp and 184 pound-feet of torque (add 3 hp and 2 lb-ft for XSE models), and a 3.5-liter V6 (301 hp, 267 lb-ft) is optional on XLE and XSE models. All Camrys are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, which is a suite of driver assistance features including adaptive cruise control, a frontal pre-collision system, lane departure alert with steering assistance, and automatic high beams.

You’ve heard the expression “don’t mess with success.” That adage could well have been applied to Lexus’ best-selling RX 300. As the best-selling model in the Lexus lineup, the RX 300 was showing no signs of slowing down despite its advancing age. So it must have been with great caution that Lexus undertook the redesign of the RX in 2004 — messing it up could have had dire financial consequences.

If ever there was a textbook definition of “improvement,” the RX 330 has to be it. The latest Lexus RX 330 is sleeker, more powerful, roomier and has an even more luxurious interior than its well-regarded predecessor. Of course, the RX 330 still offers everything that made the previous Lexus SUV a sales success. The elevated seating position, forgiving ride and smooth drivetrain are still there, only more so.

While the original Lexus RX 300 offered plenty of luxury in an SUV package, the RX 330 ups the ante in terms of both luxury and performance. A full set of auto-dimming mirrors is standard on the RX 330 as are memory seats, a power front-passenger seat, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, four one-touch power windows, heated sideview mirrors and fore-and-aft-adjustable rear seat. A refined suspension and steering system return a comfortable ride while providing reasonable road feel and a tight turning radius. A major sticking point on the old RX 300 was the curious manner in which all the climate control and audio system functions were housed in one screen in vehicles equipped with a navigation system. The RX 330 has a much improved design as the stereo controls are now separate.

The RX 330 is a great example of what a luxury crossover utility can be. Excellent performance, a large interior and plenty of unique features make the Lexus SUV stand out in an already competitive segment. Even with new competitors cropping up at every turn, the 2006 Lexus RX 330 remains one of the best luxury SUVs on the market.

The front-wheel-drive Lexus ES 350 has long been the most subtle car in Lexus’ already hardly overt lineup—appealing to those who want a smooth, responsive, quiet, and very comfortable luxury car, with some world-class technology features inside. What separates the ES 350 from the Toyota Camry are exterior styling and interior refinement. The two models share basic manufacturing elements, but Lexus owners enjoy elevated customer service. For 2010, the ES 350 gets a number of changes, but it doesn’t deviate one bit from its formula—all the while delivering the performance to satisfy all but real enthusiasts.

While the ES 350’s rear end is appealing and tasteful, the profile is rather conservative and featureless, save for out-of-place, aggressive headlamps. Although it’s still quite bland on the outside, the 2010 ES 350 gets the equivalent of a ‘sharpen,’ in photo-editor-speak. A new grille looks a bit larger, with a lot more chrome and a slightly different headlamp design to match, while the front corners have been brought out a bit more. New fog lamps and a wide, thin lower air dam complete the new and slightly different look in front, while the tail lamp design has been modified to suit the front details. Alongside, metallic trim for the side sills bridges the wheel wells, and new wheel designs also help freshen the look. The interior takes a slightly different direction, becoming warmer and softer, yet brighter, though the overall look is also very conservative.

Vehicle overview

While various SUV nameplates have won and lost favor with consumers’ changing tastes, the Toyota Camry’s popularity has remained constant over the last decade. There’s good reason for this, as the Camry has never wavered in its mission to be the perfect American family sedan. It’s not perfect, of course, but the current Camry rates highly in most of the areas mainstream buyers will consider important: It’s roomy, comfortable, safe and easy to drive. And when it comes time to sell it, you’ll get a nice price for it.

The 2008 Toyota Camry represents the second year of the nameplate’s sixth generation. Although the car retains a midsize classification, this is the largest Camry ever and that fact is immediately apparent when you get inside: Headroom, shoulder room, hip room and legroom are abundant in both the front and back. This is also the most powerful Camry ever by a wide margin. The optional 3.5-liter V6 engine develops 268 horsepower, and using the services of a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission, propels the sedan to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds — as quick as some sport sedans and coupes. It also returns fuel economy that’s not far off from what you’d get with the Camry’s base four-cylinder engine.

In spite of the current-gen Camry’s speed, performance is still not among its major selling points. Instead, buyers are likely to notice how easily this family car executes passing maneuvers and maintains utter composure and serenity when going over just about any road surface. Handling is also sharper than on any previous Camry, although the car’s abilities are masked by its ride-biased tires and lack of steering feedback. Truly, those seeking a truly sporting drive in a midsize sedan will continue to be better served by such cars as the Mazda 6, Nissan Altima and Subaru Legacy.

The 2010 Toyota Camry is a good used midsize car. It has a comfortable ride, respectable power from its base engine, and a strong available V6 engine. It features a spacious cabin and a good amount of storage space. Still, thrill seekers should bypass the Camry because of its dull handling, and some shoppers may wish for better build quality.

Driving the Used 2008 Lexus RX

Given its primary mission as a luxury-oriented carryall, the RX 350’s cabin is well isolated from wind and road noise. With chassis tuning focused more on ride comfort than precision handling, it’s also better suited to effortless cruising than to attacking a twisty two-lane. However, a relatively compact 37.4-feet turning circle makes the RX 350 fairly easy to maneuver in tighter confines, while the available four-position air suspension can raise itself to clear obstacles, lower itself for cruising and even dip for easier entry and exit. A viscous center coupling in the optional all-wheel-drive system can transfer power fore or aft from the normal 50/50 split to instantly compensate for changing traction conditions. All RX 350s come with an effective Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) package that gets a new positive cutoff switch to indulge more enthusiastic drivers and the anti-lock disc brakes excel in short, drama-free stops.

Foreign used 2005 Toyota camry

In an effort to make Camry ownership more affordable, Toyota adds an entry-level Standard model to the lineup this year. All 2005 Toyota Camry models receive freshened exterior styling with a new grille, headlamps, taillamps and wheel designs. All Camrys now have antilock brakes as standard equipment, and the optional automatic transmission for all models is now a five-speed unit. Inside, all Camrys feature Optitron gauges, steering wheel audio controls, a rear center headrest and upgraded seat fabrics. The XLE V6 now includes standard leather seating.

Toyota Camry outsells other midsize cars in America largely because of Toyota’s reputation for quality, durability and reliability. Camry is the perfect transportation appliance, flawlessly performing its duties, never annoying its owner. Its soft suspension smoothes out beat-up city streets. The interior is ergonomically excellent, with big climate and audio knobs that are easy to adjust, and the seats are comfortable.

For 2005, Toyota has freshened the Camry’s appearance, bolstered performance for four-cylinder models with a sophisticated new five-speed automatic transmission, and made anti-lock brakes standard at all trim levels. Electronic Vehicle Stability Control, which greatly increases safety, is now available on four-cylinder as well as V6 models. At the same time, Toyota has added a new entry-level Camry sedan that drops the price of entry

When it was new, critics praised the 2010 ES 350 for its high-quality interior and graceful suspension. It probably won’t appeal to driving enthusiasts, but anyone seeking a car that coddles its occupants need not look any further. The ES received some minor interior and exterior updates for 2010, including revised styling, interior trim and updated technology.

The front-wheel drive ES 350 is powered by a 272-horsepower V6 engine. Although the ES isn’t a performance car, most critics said it does feel fairly quick, and noted the smoothness of its powertrain. The Lexus ES earns a fuel economy rating of 19/27 mpg city/highway, which is about average for the class. In its trunk, the ES can carry up to 14.8 cubic feet of cargo, which is fairly good.

Inside, the ES drew rave reviews for its use of premium materials, good fit and finish and isolation from outside noise and road imperfections. Critics said the standard leather seats are very comfortable and that front and rear passengers have plenty of legroom. The base ES 350 also comes better equipped than most of its rivals. Standard features include a power sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, Bluetooth, satellite radio and an eight-speaker stereo with a USB port. Major options when it was new included a power rear sunshade, Mark Levinson stereo, backup camera, parking sensors and panoramic sunroof. Adaptive cruise control and a bevy of other safety features are also available. If you can do without the Lexus badge and want to save some money, you might want to consider a fully-loaded
